Lich King Video

Postby Pananda » Tue Jul 27, 2010 11:25 am

Here is a link that Errinb sent me to last night. It's show almost exactly the same strategy that we are using. The only key difference is that they are a little more loose in their positioning of the raid for the valk's due to the placement of the last defile. This is ideally what I would like to see happening once we get to point that the defile dance is getting easier and easier.

http://www.tankspot.com/showthread.php? ... -Lich-King

Note how everyone is stacking for the valk's and they are being carried in the same general direction. Something that I am thinking of changing is the distance of the tanks from the ranged. Next week we are going to try and keep ranged almost right on melee's butts. This will help to ensure that if the melee are the ones that get picked up they will still go the same way.

We were consistently getting him down to at least 60% if not lower once we got those defiles down. Next week will be more work on the dance and the goal is to get him into the second ledge phase. Once we get him there it's basically going to be win for us since the phase after we get back from the ledge there will be no more valk's and people will be free to stay spread out for the defile.

More to come on the vile spirits when I get a few extra mins to finish typing. But this should be more than enough for people to go over.

This is the strat we will be using so watch it and follow it closely.

Here's a little tip I got from talking with some people that have down him. NO Warlock should ever be with the group. They should all be standing behind the group with their teleporters right at the ledge so when they get dropped there will be no way that a dps can accidentally target them since they are already so far back. This will also make their flight shorter and therefore give them time to help dps once they get dropped and teleport back to their spot. This also alleviates people's tunnel vision since I know I heard more than one lock say he was getting picked up and that people were still hitting his Valk.

Watched this video on Monday during the raid.
{Thanks Sil for reminding me to watch the video. It had been a couple of weeks since I had last watched it and it did refresh my memory some}

I have since watched it a couple of more times. I also went through today and read some of the questions and responses to the video. I only got through page 5 before my eyes started going cross eyed (long, busy day- I know you understand) so forgive me if somehow they talked about this and I missed it.

When it comes to the valks I noticed that they had a similar strat to our own but I also noticed a slight difference in how fast each valk died. This could be as simple as different make ups in groups (as in one of the groups was just downing their valk a little faster than the others. But this what I was thinking Monday night and what I was thinking today as I was watching this video for the 3rd time this week.

What if we stayed on one valk , then moved to the next, and then to the final one? This would be slightly different than what we did the first couple of times we attempted LK because we would have to leave at least one but most likely 2 slowers/stunners on each valk. Those slowers/stunners would also be dpsing the valks they are on while keeping them from flying towards the edge. That would leave at least 9 (more because my math is slightly off) ppl moving between each valk. We would have to designate a kill order, for instance triangle>diamond>circle. And if the locks have their transporters up then if they are nabbed that those stunners can either help with the other valk still needing to be stunned or go to the target being rescued at that time. I was just thinking that the more ppl on one valk would get it down faster.

Of course if we aren't all switching to the valks then no strat will ever work. ><

Anyhow those are my thoughts. I am looking forward to getting in this week and making some progress. If we would get down 1 or 2 valks every time that is progress over what we are doing now. :)

Watched it months ago. Watch it again every time before I raid. At this rate, I may need to just bookmark it. :?

Watched it several times, however our positioning seems quite different from their set up.

Watched it. I'll say our biggest problem is that the Val'kyrs aren't getting slowed well enough. I think this, more than anything, is because we don't have enough melee. Not really anyone's fault. Just hoping it's something that we can resolve in the future. One thing I will say though, we did a much better job tonight of making sure all the Val'kyrs were all going in the same direction. That allows us Warlocks to Seed of Corruption the hell out of them and allows melee to do their cleve-like abilities to put the hurtin' on them.
